Mission Kitchen is a co-working space that aim to make it possible for anyone to turn a passion for food into a great business.

Part workspace, part bakery, part community kitchen; it will create a new platform for local food entrepreneurs, and a new place for local people to learn more about food, business and each other.

The area is filled with hundreds of talented cooks looking to build a business or career in food, and Mission Kitchen will act as the stepping stone they need.

RESEARCH & IDEATION

Understanding the user needs

Conducted an extensive research on commercial kitchen's ergonomic data, the dynamics of co-working spaces, and the special needs of the Mission Kitchen community for the co-design process.

To define the identity of the space, we developed key insights through a combination of methods such as; desk research, focus groups, non-participant observation, creating personas and journey maps.

Identifying the key insights

This combination of uses is aimed at accelerating local entrepreneurship and new ways of working in the highly diverse Loughborough Junction.

The affordable workspace focuses on the local community collaboration, helping local people start new small businesses, and grow existing ones, and providing opportunities for local residents to get involved in the project during and after the build process.
